Details

India has been elected to the 15-member steering committee of the GlobE Network. It will allow India to influence global strategies against corruption and help to recover assets obtained through corrupt means.

About GlobE Network

The Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GloBE Network) was created to enhance international cooperation in tackling corruption and financial crimes.

It was started as an initiative of G-20, supported by India in 2020. The GloBE Network was officially launched in June 2021, during a special event at the UN General Assembly Special Session against Corruption. Currently, the network includes 121 member countries and 219 member authorities.

Objectives of the GlobE Network

To exchange ideas and successful strategies to tackle corruption more effectively.
To share information about corruption-related crimes, which helps members to act faster and more decisively.
To create plans and strategies to combat corruption globally.

The GloBE Network is guided by a steering committee that provides leadership and direction for the organization, ensuring that the network runs smoothly and effectively.

The Network receives support from the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which provides the secretariat, helps in managing the network and encourages communication among member countries.

Significance for India

India has significant experience in combating corruption, it can guide the network's efforts and shape global policies to increase its international influence.

The GlobE Network focuses on sharing best practices among law enforcement agencies worldwide. India can help in strengthening cooperation in fighting cross-border corruption.

The committee will develop strategies to effectively tackle corruption and support member countries in their efforts.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are part of the GloBE Network. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) serves as the central authority, coordinating India’s involvement in this global effort.
