Recently Indian Naval Air Squadron 324 was commissioned into the Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam.
It is the first Naval Squadron on the Eastern Seaboard based on indigenously designed and built Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) MK III (MR) helicopters.
Developed and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
It is named "KESTRELS”; it means birds of prey and has good sensory capabilities symbolising the envisaged role of the Aircraft and the Air Squadron.
It also includes modern surveillance radar and electro-optical sensors.
It will support the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
It could be also deployed for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Operations as well as Special Operations with Marine Commandos.
