Context: A long-billed dowitcher sighted at Kanaavanthurai where Arani river meets the Pulicat lagoon.

About long-billed dowitcher:

• It is a medium-sized shorebird with a relatively long bill belonging to the sandpiper family.
• It prefer freshwater and breed mainly from western and northern Alaska to eastern Siberia before migrating as far south as Mexico for the winter
• Conservation status in IUCN RED list: Least concern
