Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML)
The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) was established in memory of Jawaharlal Nehru.
It is located in the Teen Murti House, New Delhi, the official residence of the first Prime Minister of India.
It is an autonomous institution under the Union Ministry of Culture.
It has four major constituents;
A Memorial Museum
A library on Modern India
A Centre for Contemporary Studies
The Nehru Planetarium
The library has been designed and developed as a specific research and reference centre on colonial and post-colonial India with its very rich and varied collection of books, journals, photographs and other resource materials on microfilm and microfiche.
It has a rich manuscript section.
It also acquires and preserves private papers of distinguished individuals and records of political and other non-official organizations, associations and societies that played a significant role in the development of modern India.
These archival materials are an important primary source of information for research and are made available to scholars.
The NMML aims to contribute to a better understanding of Modern and Contemporary India, and thus serve as a link with the past and the future of India.
