Context:

• A 100-day reading campaign has been launched by the Union Education Minister with an objective to promote the practice of reading among children.

About the initiative:

• Children studying in Balvatika to class 8 will be part of this campaign. 
• The reading campaign will be organised for 100 days (14 weeks) starting from January 1 to April 10, 2022. 
• The reading campaign aims to have the participation of all stakeholders at national and state level including children, teachers, parents, community, educational administrators etc.

Five books suggested in order to inculcate the joyful culture of reading:

• Atomic Habits by James Clear
• A Little Book of Happiness by Ruskin Bond
• Reflections by Swami Vivekananda
• Chilika by Kabibara Radhanath Ray
• Prayashchita by Fakir Mohan Senapati
