Context

The forest department is making the preparation to start this wildlife safari in the month of June.
It is inspired from the successful operation of wild safaris in Ranthambore and Sariska tiger reserve and will be the third such safari in Rajasthan state

Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve of Bundi

Ramgarh Vishdhari Wildlife Sanctuary was designated a tiger reserve on July 5, 2021 as it was granted in-principle approval by NTCA.
In was given a status of a Wildlife Sanctuary In 1982 under a state act namely Rajasthan Wild Animals and Birds Protection Act, 1951.
It is situated in Bundi district, southeastern part of Rajasthan.
It has core area of 481.9 sq.km and buffer area of 1019.98 sq.km.
A river named Mez passes through this tiger reserv This river is a tributary of Chambal river.
Only a single pair of tigers is present currently, however there are plans to bring more tigers, specifically tigresses, from Ranthambore National Park.

Fauna

Area is rich in biodiversity and it support variety of species.
Apart from tiger it has populations of Leopards, Sloth bears, Jungle cat, Chital, Sambar, Nilgai, Golden jackal, Hyaena, Crested Porcupine, Indian rock python, Indian Hedgehog, Rhesus macaque, Red sand boa, Cobra, hanuman langur, Crocodiles, small indian civet, palm civet, Indian fox, Rattle , Ruddy mongoose, Indian hare

Flora

Dry Deciduous Forest
Along with most prominent tree Dhok, it has Khair, Ronj, Gurjan, Tendu, Saler.
Variety of grasses are also present for instance - Apluda mutica, Cynodon dactylon, Heteropogon contortus etc.

Core, Buffer and transition areas of a Tiger reserve

Tiger Reserves have core area and buffer area
Core area - Human activities are not allowed. All disturbances are to be removed from the core area,
Buffer area – It is an area surrounding core area. Limited activities regarding land and water use are permitted, however conservation of nature should not be hampered.
