  • As many as 85 butterfly species were recorded at Tale Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • These include:  the “three jewels” of Tale Wildlife Sanctuary – Kaiser-i-Hind, Bhutan Glory, and Brown Gorgon.
  • The Kaisar-i-Hind is a rare species of swallowtail butterfly.

All about Tale Wildlife Sanctuary

  • Location and Establishment: Talle Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansiri district. It was established in 1995.
  • Elevation and Vegetation: Elevation of this sanctuary ranges from 1,200 to 3,000 m. It harbours subtropical and temperate broadleaved and conifer forests.  It has undisturbed pristine climax vegetation which is the home of rare, elusive clouded leopard. 
  • Rivers surrounding it: The sanctuary lies roughly in between the Subansiri, Sipu and Pange rivers.
  • Fauna: Mammal species present include clouded leopard, Malayan giant squirrel, Indian muntjac and Asian palm civet.
  • Endangered Plants: There are about 16 endangered plants have survived in this area, they are: Panax sikkimensis, Schizandre, Acer hookeri, Acer oblongum, Goleola neediflora, Angioteris evecta, Cyathia spinulosa, Monotropa uniflora, Clematis apiculata, Corybus spp., Goleola falconeri, Balanphora dioica, Lilium grandiflora, Pleioblastu simonii, Berberis spp., Cotoneaster species.
