Context - The Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship presented the Status report on TEJAS Project in the Lok Sabha.

Under the Pilot project Training in Emirates Job and Skills (TEJAS), candidates after training and certification are positioned in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The Government launched the SWADES (Skilled Workers Arrival Database for Employment Support) scheme to create a database of skill sets and experiences of the returning citizens under the Vande Bharat Mission.
- The TEJAS Scheme is also applicable to returnee workers.

SWADES Scheme

SWADES (Skilled Workers Arrival Database for Employment Support) scheme was launched by the Union government to conduct a skill mapping exercise for the returning citizens under the Vande Bharat Mission.
It is a joint initiative of;
- The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
- The Ministry of Civil Aviation.
- The Ministry of External Affairs.
National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is the implementing body of the project.
The objective is to create a database of qualified citizens based on their skill sets and experience.
- The collected data will be shared with the companies to provide them with appropriate job opportunities in the country.
The returning citizens are required to fill up an online application for SWADES Skills Card.
