Vadhavan Port Project in Maharashtra

• Jointly developed by Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) (74%) and Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) (26%) through Vadhavan Port Project Limited (VPPL)
• Objectives and Scope:
  • Gateway Port: Strategic location as a gateway for the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC) and International North-South Transportation Corridor (INSTC)
  • Infrastructure: All-weather greenfield deep draft major port with world-class maritime terminal facilities
  • PPP Model: Development of core infrastructure, terminals, and commercial facilities under Public-Private Partnership (PPP)
• Connectivity:
  • Road and Rail Linkage: Approval for road connectivity to national highways by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, and rail linkage to existing network and Dedicated Rail Freight Corridor by the Ministry of Railways
• Environmental Considerations: Addressing environmental concerns and local community issues, with initiatives to mitigate potential impacts and ensure sustainable development.
• Economic Impact: Expected to create significant employment opportunities and enhance economic progress in the region, positioning Vadhavan Port among the top 10 ports globally upon completion.
